Google Drive Integration
FluentCase integrates with Google Drive as a one-way backup integration. Matter documents from FluentCase are automatically backed up to a folder structure on Google Drive. This is a backup solution only—there is no importing of data from Google Drive into FluentCase.
Important: This is a one-way integration from FluentCase to Google Drive only. Documents flow from FluentCase → Google Drive for backup purposes. Google Drive is used as a backup storage solution and not as a source for importing documents into FluentCase.

Disconnecting or Re-authenticating

- Disconnect: Click Disconnect and confirm. Backups stop. Files already in the FluentCase Data Backup folder stay in Google Drive.
- Re-authenticate: If the page shows There is a problem authenticating with Google Drive., click Re-authenticate and sign in to Google again.
The Recent Interactions table on the same page lists recent backup activity.
What Gets Backed Up
The Google Drive connection applies to the whole firm. Once it is connected, FluentCase backs up documents from every matter, not just the connecting user’s matters.
FluentCase creates a folder named FluentCase Data Backup in the connected Google Drive and organizes it as follows:
-
One folder per matter, named with the matter name and file number, such as
Smith v. ABC (2024-001) - One subfolder per tag inside each matter folder
- Untagged documents are placed directly in the matter folder
- Documents with several tags are copied into each matching tag folder
The backup runs automatically in the background, at most once an hour per firm. Only new or changed files are uploaded on each run.
Files you add, edit, or delete in the FluentCase Data Backup folder are not copied back into FluentCase.
