JetFile Overview
FluentCase integrates with electronic court filing systems to streamline the process of filing documents with courts.
Note: All submissions may take up to 24 hours from the completed date of filing to be displayed on the EAMS Case Search page. This is a rule set by the DWC, not FluentCase.

Starting a JetFiling
JetFilings are always created inside a matter. JET Filings appears in a matter’s left panel only for Workers’ Compensation matters. The JET Filings item in the main left navigation is a firmwide list for monitoring filings and has no button.
- Open the matter. If you are opening a new case that has no case number yet, create the matter with Enter Data Manually. For an existing case, use Import from EAMS (see EAMS Lookup Integration).
- Click next to JET Filings in the matter’s left panel
- On JET: Select a Form, choose the form. Only forms that can be JetFiled are listed.
- Leave Automatically pre-fill form using available matter data checked to fill the form from the matter, then select the injury to use. For forms that use one injury, choose Omit any injury data to leave injury information and the case number off the form.
- Click Create
Forms not listed on JET: Select a Form cannot be JetFiled. To prepare a paper version, open the matter’s Forms & Word Templates, click WCAB, and filter the list by the form name.
Setting the Case Number
When a filing is created, its case number is copied from the selected injury’s EAMS No. If that injury has no EAMS No., or you chose Omit any injury data, the filing has no case number.
While creating the filing: Uncheck Automatically pre-fill form using available matter data. A Case Number field appears. Type the case number, or click Use next to one of the matter’s injury case numbers.
After creating the filing (before it is submitted):
- Open the filing from the matter’s JET Filings list
- Click Case Number
- On Set Court Case Number, enter, change, or clear the EAMS Number
- Click Save
The Case Number and Form buttons are disabled once a filing has been submitted to the court.
Notes:
- Changing an injury’s EAMS No. (Injuries → select the injury → Edit) affects filings created afterward. It does not change the case number on an existing filing; use Case Number on that filing instead.
- When you open a new case, the case number is filled in automatically once DWC assigns it. If the filing is linked to an injury whose EAMS No. is blank, FluentCase also saves the new number to that injury.
- Companion cases are added on the form itself. While editing the form, click Show Cover Sheet Fields. If this button is not present, the form does not accept companion cases.
Paper vs. JET File
The form editor shows the Filing Method with a Switch to Paper or Switch to JET File link (not available for Unstructured Forms).
- JET File - Fields that are not sent electronically are hidden. Click Next: Documents to attach documents and send the filing to DWC.
- Paper - All fields on the printed form are shown. Click Finalize to lock the form. Paper filings are not sent to DWC and do not appear in the JET Filings lists.
Values entered in the form apply only to that filing. They do not update the matter, injury, or Rolodex records.
To JetFile a form that was finalized as paper, open it, click Clone, and click Switch to JET File on the copy.
Attaching and Classifying Documents
After you click Next: Documents:
- Review Expected Documents. Each document type is marked Required or Optional.
- Click documents in the matter’s document list on the left to attach them. Only PDFs and files that can be converted to PDF (Word documents, TIF, EML) can be attached.
- For each document under Attached Documents, set:
- Classify As - the document type (for example, a proof of service)
- Author - defaults to the UAN of the matter’s branch office
- Document Date - defaults to today
- Once required documents are attached, enter the Signature, signature date, and Signed At (City). The signature date must be within 14 days of today. Compromise and Release and Request for Consultative Ratings filings do not require these fields.
- Click Send to DWC
The filing cannot be submitted until every attached document has a Classify As value and an Author.
Unstructured Forms accept any document type but require at least one document. Select the Unit, and include your proof(s) of service if applicable.
When resubmitting a filing, the documents step may show Resubmit this form, keeping original filing date of date. Uncheck it if today is an acceptable filing date.
Firm and attorney details on forms are filled from the matter’s branch office (see Firm Settings).
Finding Filed Documents
Open the filing from the JET Filings list. Below Filing Data, the filing shows the Filing Packet (with Preview and Download) once generated, followed by the form PDF and the attached documents. If a completed filing shows Filing Packet — not yet generated, click Generate Packet.

Field Length Validation Errors
Before sending, FluentCase checks the filing against the DWC JetFile schema for that form. A field that is too long shows a message in the format Value entered for <field> is <n> characters long. Allowed length is <limit>. Limits are set by DWC in each form’s schema, so a value accepted on one form may be too long on another.
To fix the error, click Back: Edit Form Data, shorten the named field (for example, enter a single letter in a middle initial field), and submit again.
Missing Signature or Classification Errors
Signature, signature date, and Signed At (City) are entered on the documents step, not in the uploaded document. Each attached document also needs Classify As and Author. See Attaching and Classifying Documents.
Filing Has No Case Number
If a filing shows No Case Number or fails because the case number is missing, set it with Case Number on the filing. See Setting the Case Number.
